Pro Tips

Do Your Research

Before the auction, research the vehicles you’re interested in, including their market value, condition, and history, to make informed bidding decisions.

Set a Budget

Establish a clear budget and stick to it. Factor in additional costs like buyer’s fees, taxes, and transportation expenses to avoid overspending.

Inspect Thoroughly

Take advantage of preview days to inspect the vehicles up close. Look for signs of damage, mechanical issues, and any hidden defects that could affect the vehicle’s value.

Stay Calm & Patient

Keep a cool head during bidding and avoid getting caught up in the excitement. Be patient and wait for the right opportunity to bid, rather than impulsively jumping into bidding wars.

Know When to Walk Away

Don’t be afraid to walk away if the bidding exceeds your budget or if the vehicle doesn’t meet your expectations. It’s better to let go and wait for another opportunity than to regret making a hasty decision.

What to Expect

Diverse Inventory

Expect to find a wide variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, SUVs, and specialty vehicles, sourced from various sources such as dealerships, rental companies, and financial institutions.

Competitive Bidding

Prepare for a fast-paced environment with competitive bidding. Auctions can be intense, with multiple bidders vying for the same vehicles, driving prices up quickly.

Auctioneer Guidance

Anticipate the guidance of a skilled auctioneer who will lead the bidding process, announcing each vehicle and facilitating bids until a winning bidder emerges.

Inspection Opportunities

Take advantage of preview days or inspection periods to assess the condition of the vehicles up close. This allows you to make informed decisions and avoid surprises during the auction.

Buyer's Fees

Be aware of additional costs such as buyer’s fees, taxes, and registration fees that may apply to your purchases. These fees can vary depending on the auction house and should be factored into your budget.

Next Steps

Registration

You must first register as a bidder. This requires providing personal information, such as identification and contact details, and agreeing to the auction’s terms and conditions. Depending on the auction, sometimes there is a small fee.

Preview the Vehicles

Take advantage of any preview periods to inspect the vehicles up for auction and identify the ones you’re interested in bidding on.

Set Your Budget

Determine your budget and establish the maximum amount you’re willing to bid for each vehicle, considering additional costs like buyer’s fees and taxes.

Place Your Bids

During the auction, bid on the vehicles you’ve selected, bidding competitively while staying within your budget.

Win, Pay, and Arrange Vehicle Removal

If you win a bid, be prepared to pay for the vehicle according to the auction’s payment terms, which typically involves providing a deposit or full payment immediately. Then, you much arrange for the removal of the purchased vehicle from the auction premises, ensuring it’s transported safely and legally.
